Galerija Balen is pleased to present Ivan Bura, artist and photographer from Split, who on this occasion exhibits a series of photographs thematically linked to the sea.

Ivan Bura graduated in 2000 from the Art Academy of Florence, Sculpture Department, and in his artistic practice he also uses installation and performance. It is no wonder therefore that photographs from the cycle Mediterranean are printed on canvas. 'The result is the following: by printing photographs on canvas he enriched the captured image with a delicate, grainy texture of its weave, and at the same time stresses the two dimensional character of photography.' Nature in general, and the artist's immediate natural environment especially, which means sea and islands, is regularly the moving force of Bura's work. On Mediterranean Pictures, apart from the noted natural cycles, only boats appear, as the sole trace of human presence, but they are also abandoned, left to the mercy of the elements.
